Board Connection: For Individuals
Leadership Volunteering as a Nonprofit Board
Member!
Nonprofits are always looking for volunteers.
But did you know that nonprofits also need governing volunteers on
their boards? Serving on a nonprofit board is a serious responsibility
and a rewarding challenge. Board membership is not only a means of
giving back to the community, but also an invaluable opportunity to
develop leadership and team-building qualities.
If
you
are considering board service or desire to be more effective
in your current role as a board member, this workshop will
help new and prospective board members gain an appreciation
for the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards,
individual board members, board officers, and board
committees. Other topics will include: legal issues for
nonprofit boards, organizational life cycles,
accountability, and more.
The workshop will be engaging and interactive, and will
include opportunities for participants to apply the
concepts and models to their own organizations.
