Disasters are unfortunately a reality in all communities across the United States. In the Mid-South, disaster's, ranging from single family house fires to local flooding, often strike without warning that is why it is important to be prepared when it matters.

Volunteer Mid-South Role in Disaster Preparedness and Response

  • Volunteer Mid-South is the official volunteer clearinghouse for Memphis and Shelby County in case of a major disaster.

  • We will open a volunteer reception center after a major disaster strikes Memphis and Shelby County.  

  • Volunteer Mid-South is constantly recruiting, preparing and educating citizens of Shelby County.

  • Volunteer Mid-South will match volunteers with disaster relief volunteer opportunities within Mid-South communities.

  • Shelby County Disaster relief agencies need volunteers now!  Contact us for a list of agencies and their volunteer needs.

  • Help protect your community by joining the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department Public Health Reserve Corps/ Medical Reserve Corps today and be apart of this great team!   • Volunteer Mid-South helped found and is facilitating the Memphis Shelby County  (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters). 

  • VOAD is a group of agencies that collaborate to organize their responses to disaster.
