Connecting: People. Resources. Organizations.

Family Matters is designed for the family that is looking for meaningful volunteer experiences to share with one another and ways to make a difference in our community.

Our  Family and Youth Friendly Flex Projects provide the perfect way for busy families of all types to volunteer in a fun, meaningful, hands on setting. Whether families want to help clean up a disheveled neighborhood, serve meals to the homeless or have a play date with some cool cats and some dandy dogs, there’s bound to be a Family and Youth Friendly Flex Project that is right for you.

Family and Youth Friendly Flex Projects require no ongoing commitment, address a variety of community issues, often take place outside traditional work and school hours as well as on the weekends, and have project coordinators who greet and orient volunteers at each project.

We want all members of the family to enjoy the experience of volunteering. However, all projects may not be suitable for children under five. In most cases, young children are welcomed as long as they are joined by a responsible adult and meet the minimum age requirements of the host agency. The projects minimum age can be found under the project description.

Besides our Family and Youth Friendly Flex Projects, Family Matters also hosts a number of special Family Volunteer Day’s throughout the year so check back often to see what we have in store for your family.

Family Matters also provides families and youth with tips and resources on what makes a good volunteer and how one can create their own service project so that they can make an impact in their own community.

If you would like to “Join Our Family” to receive email updates about upcoming family and youth friendly volunteer projects please contact Traci Allen at tallen@volunteermidsouth.org or 901-523-2425 ext 205
