FAMILY
MATTERS
What is
Family Matters?
Family
Matters is the newest program of Volunteer Mid-South. It is designed for the family
that is looking for meaningful experiences to share with one another and
ways to shape the Memphis community. That is why we say you can find
volunteer opportunities that MATTER to your family!
What
type of families may participate?
No
one family is the same, so Family Matters caters to family units of all
types, sizes and ages. Grandparents, husband and wife teams, aunts, uncles,
cousins and even friends are welcomed to be a part of your family
volunteer efforts!
Is there
an age requirement?
We
want all members of the family to enjoy the experience of service
learning. However, all projects may not be suitable for children under
five. In most cases, young children are welcomed as long as they are
joined by a responsible adult and meet the minimum age requirements of the
host agency. Be sure to check our listings of volunteer opportunities and
the individual age requirements in our monthly flyer.
What will
we do?
Remember that
Family Matters is
all about finding volunteer opportunities for you and your family. The
program works with a number of agencies in Memphis to provide a vast array
of projects. Some projects may include:
·
Collecting canned goods for a food pantry
·
Pulling weeds in a garden for an elderly couple
·
Visiting patients in a nursing home
·
Stuffing envelopes for a charity fundraiser
Family
Matters will also be hosting its very own volunteer projects for the whole
family to enjoy. Check out our website in the coming months for more
information!
