Volunteer
Mid-South is at the heart of volunteering, building capacity for
effective volunteering and connecting people with opportunities to serve
throughout
Memphis and
Shelby County.
Our
mission is to develop, promote and support volunteerism.
We work
with nonprofits, churches, schools, corporations, and other groups that
engage volunteers to make community programs stronger.

Flexible Volunteer Program
- Flex Projects
(Formerly Hands On Projects)
Flex provide the
perfect way for busy people of all ages to volunteer in a fun,
meaningful setting. Whether your interests are in feeding the homeless, spending time with seniors, preserving the
environment, or so much more, there's bound to be a Flex Project right
for you!
Disaster Preparedness
Coordinates with local, state
and federal emergency management groups to recruit and match volunteers
with disaster relief volunteer opportunities in the event of a disaster.
Family Matters
- Family and Youth Volunteering
Designed for the family that
is looking for meaningful volunteer experiences to share with one
another and ways to make a difference our community.
Memphis Teen Volunteers (MTV)
Designed to make teen
volunteerism easy, accessible and fun! It is a great way for teens, ages
13-17, to find ongoing volunteer opportunities both during the school
year and the summer months.
Share the Spirit of Giving
Annual fundraising program in
December that through the magic of donations and hundreds of volunteers
gives Memphis City School students in low-income areas bags filled with
books, school supplies, and toys. It also teaches them about giving and
explores ways they can give back to their own communities through
service.
Spirit of Giving Awards
Our annual National Volunteer
Week event that provides a public and highly visible venue for
nonprofits in the Mid-South to recognize their most outstanding
volunteers in a variety of categories.
Training
Training Services is dedicated to helping non-profit agencies and other organizations develop strong, effective volunteer programs
that actively address community needs. We facilitate numerous workshops on
all aspects of volunteer management (nonprofit, faith-based, etc),
mentoring, and non-profit board leadership.
Also provide consulting, customized trainings, and referral
services.

Works with local businesses committed to meeting
community
needs through volunteerism and community
involvement
Board Connection
This training program is for
current and future board members and covers the important roles and
responsibilities of board members. Training is also available for
nonprofit organizations to assist them in refining the recruitment
process in order to identify strong leaders and individuals passionate
about their mission.
Consulting & Custom Services
We offer programs and
services that make it easy to get your company involved in the
community. We’ll work closely with you to match your company's culture
and community service objectives with needs in the community.
Corporate Neighbor Awards
Annual event hosted by the
CVC that honors companies for outstanding leadership and projects in
volunteerism.
Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC)
Helps companies of all sizes
create new and support existing workplace volunteer programs. Also
provides a great network of like-minded community business partners.
Partnership Development
Create partnerships with various groups to address
community needs.
Current partnerships include:
Academy Tutoring Project
Tutoring in math and reading
at Memphis Academy of Health Sciences, KIPP: Diamond Academy, Southern
Avenue Charter School, Star Academy and COSLA (Circles of Success
Learning Academy). This project made possible by a grant from The Hyde
Foundation.
AmeriCorps*VISTA Intermediary
In partnership with the
Corporation for National and Community Service, Volunteer Mid-South
serves as an intermediary agency for nonprofit organizations that
address the root causes of poverty and work to bring Mid-South citizens
or communities out of poverty.
